Top Reasons to Add More Spice to Your Life

Top Reasons to Add More Spice to Your Life Herbs and spices have very low calorie content, they’re relatively inexpensive, and they’re a great way to turbo-boost the natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power of your diet. Not to mention that they taste great! It may come as a surprise to you that herbs and spices are some of the most potent antioxidants. In fact, on a per gram fresh weight basis, oregano and other herbs rank even higher in antioxidant activity than fruits and vegetables, which are known to be high in antioxidants too. Compared to the antioxidant activities of...

Ethos: Sun Light Safety

Ethos: Sun Light Safety

Ethos: Sun Light Safety UVA UVB but also UV-IR

It is not a new phenomenon to protect ones skin from the sun but it is something that seemingly few do habitually.

1. We believe the sun causes 90% of the extrinsic damage to our skin.  This statistic has been given over the years.  Intrinsic is the natural aging and telomere depreciation over time.

2. Smoking creates a host of damage to the elasticity of the skin.  Just a few puffs of a cigarette goes into your body and creates DNA damage.  There are studies and diagrams that show how this happens we will go into more depth in future blog posts.

3. Stress and air pollution and intrinsic damage of hormones and natural telomere shortening over time also rounds out the damage.  But there are many examples of monks with beautiful healthy skin approaching the age of 100 that have the cheeks of a baby. They spend much time indoors.

4. We recommend physical sunblock that have zinc and titanium dioxide as each exhibits different bandwidths of protection.  The chemical sunblocks are basically anything else.

5. UVA and UVB are the most talked about.  But unfortunately we subscribe to the belief that there is also UV that emitted from computers and cell phone screens and florescent lights that is more challenging to protect.  Many dermatologists have not acknowledged this belief as they tend to use light is very aggressive ways.  This usually over time causes what is known as oxidative stress to the skin.  The skin is overwhelmed by photons and is not necessarily equipt to repair the bombardment of artificial light in the form of lasers or that emitted from day to day exposure to electronic screens.   As of now, antioxidants have shown some ability to reconcile or offset the UV-IR light but naturally avoidance and preventative action by not being overwhelmed by man-made light is the best course of action.

6. The first 5 minutes of exposure to sun reportedly is more than half the damage.  The skin is overwhelmed and that alone causes the skin to go into overdrive protection mode and that sitting in the sun longer than that means the skin is already sensitized.  So walks from the car to the store and other short duration exposures is not perilous.

7. Wearing a hat or anything dark like blue jeans has a natural SPF30 or more.

8. We do believe VitaminD3 is important to take if you wear sunblock daily.

9, It might be beneficial to pick an area that you do not cover and dont mind wreaking premature aged effects to garner some of the healing benefits of natural sourced Vitamin D from the sun. But if you want to have healthy collagen on areas like your face neck and hands, best to wear a hat and apply the physical sunblock to protect from the ravaging effects.

10. A picture of a man below, 91 years old. He is a monk and spent most of his days inside meditating. The woman to his side is 62 years old and endured most of her life spent working outdoors.

Argan Oil The Berber Women of Morocco

Argan Oil The Berber Women of Morocco

Our Argan oil is produced from Argan trees mostly found deep in the southwestern regions of Morocco. Argan trees grow in some of the harshest hot climate conditions and produce Argan nuts. These nuts contains a varied number of argan oil rich kernels that are extracted by hand and then cold pressed and filtered to produce Argan oil. The scarcity of the trees and labor intensive press process of extraction makes this rare gift of nature scarce, valuable and extremely effective. This process has traditionally been carried out by the indigenous Berber women of Southwestern Morocco who have done an...
